Hi all,

When i connect my tablet with Mobilesheets to my piano via USB-to-host (specs below), 
the app keeps hanging when performing almost any action (navigating menus, opening sheets, turning pages) until a MIDI message is received (e.g. note played).

This is independent of whether i connect the piano first, then start MS or the other way around. I've tried modifying all MIDI related settings but to no avail.

During playing this is not so bothersome, but during navigating menus/library it is somewhat annoying.

Would any of you have a work-aroud / fix for this? Otherwise i would like to report this as a bug so it might be fixed in the future.

Specs:
Tablet: Trekstor Surftab theatre K13
OS: Android 8.1.0
Midi device: Kawai CA78 digital piano
MSP version: 2.4.5 free (will immediately buy pro when i have all sheet music on PC sorted out, it's a great app!)

PS: see bluetooth-MIDI is being worked on, would express my support for this function. Would be great to use my tablet wirelessly!

That is a bug with my app running on Android 8.0. The current MIDI implementation does not appear to work properly on Android 8.0. I'm currently working on adding entirely new MIDI implementations (which will include support for bluetooth MIDI). I'm pushing out an update this week to fix some bugs and add some new features, and then I'm going to finish the MIDI changes and release that separately. I will try to get this finished as soon as I can.

I'm currently working on adding entirely new MIDI implementations (which will include support for bluetooth MIDI). I'm pushing out an update this week to fix some bugs and add some new features, and then I'm going to finish the MIDI changes and release that separately. I will try to get this finished as soon as I can.

Spoken to you a few times in past few years re Midi etc;
I can confirm an issue with android 8.1 on samsung galaxy tab A 10.1 2016,  on navigating thru setlist not long before a lock up with OTG cable pluggin in for midi transmit sysex etc;  appreciate you're looking at this Mike and as always on the ball with usual stellar support. Wish i could revert back to nougat......but failed ROM on ODIN.............
Meanwhile still OK on android 6 and 7 on other 6 tablets...........

I am seeing the same issue, I have connected the Tablet's Midi Out to Midiox's input and I can get MSP to work by checking the Midi Echo, when I do this there are messages blasting out of the tablet from MSP as soon as any action is taken in MSP, they are below:

If you take echo off the messages stop and MSP hangs again, it will un-hang if the USB-Midi device is disconnected from the tablet.

I hope this helps your debugging.

I have a fix in place for the MIDI issues on Android 8.0+. I've just been finishing other bug reports from users before releasing the update. If you need an early release and you purchased from Google Play, send an email to mike@zubersoft.com and I can get that for you.
