Instrument position e.g. 1st, 2nd etc
#1
I am starting to use MobileSheets and so far so good - does just about everything I need, easily.

However I play a number of instruments and in various types of bands - including those with different positions for the same instrument (e.g. 1st, 2nd etc). Therefore I have the same piece of music for the same instrument in different positions.

The only way I can capture this is in the title - ugh!

I use the Custom field to capture which instrument the music is for.

So can we either have more than one custom field, or the ability to record instrument and position as well?

Thanks.

In an earlier thread, Mike said that later versions will have the other keys (genre, etc.) fully configurable. I think that will probably meet your needs.

We all tend to use MS in the way that suits us individually. Could you make use of the Album or Artist fields?

I'm adding an additional custom field as well as an additional user customizable category that you can name yourself (you could use it for instrument). It would allow you to view songs based on your own category, much the same way that genres are viewed on the library screen right now. That should help.

Thanks - sounds like that might be the solution Smile

If I'm understanding you correctly, why not add 1st, 2nd, etc. In the custom field beside the instrument. I have s lot of music this way... I have some stuff right now that says reed 1 or reed 2, with a listing of what instruments are in reed one. These are all currently in the custom field.

Thumbs Up
You're right - instead of having just the instrument name in the custom field I could add the position as well. That's a neat solution I hadn't thought of - thanks!
