Is it possible to select a group of (already inserted) annotations and align them vertically? Perhaps Snap to Grid or another method? TIA, Alan

Not at the moment, although this is on my list of things to do. What you can do is enable snap-to-grid, then manually move each annotation (either with drag & drop or the nudge tool). This will ensure they are all aligned on the same grid line.
