Add a page to an existing file?
#1
Hi there,
Been using the pro version for two weeks now and VERY happy.
- still to nag you it would be good to have the flatten and export pdf option available...

BUT now that the screen has no android info like the time etc it's relatively easy to take screen shots and recompile on the computer

My question is if I have an existing file with let's say 10 pages and I just want to add on one extra page (not a blank one, that is very obvious) does the program allow appending another page within the program?
Or do I need to do that on the computer?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

Yes, you can add another file to the existing one. This can be done through the edit song screen.

Hi,
Yes you can add another page, or another file. But this at the end and as a SEPERATE file.
So for instance you just want to place a page between page 2 and 3.
This cannot happen actually if the file comes from outside the original one.
Or am I missing something?

I have not worked out if you can do this either.
I imported a 3 page PDF and another single page, then tried to have page 1 of the first, followed by the single page, then carry on with the last two pages. I tried to load the same 3 page file again but it didn't seem to give me the option. I suppose I could duplicate it with another file name outside MS then import it.

Mike (or anyone) once you have a few PDFs or files listing for a song in the editor, is there a way to specify a specific file and a page from each when you are ordering the song's pages?
All there is is a page number field.

It seems to me bumblebee that you've hit the nail on the head.
You can import other pdf files, take a photo, even another mobilesheets format file.

BUT
each will be put in a line one after the other and NO mixing.

So the only way to add a page to a pdf file is on the computer.
I repeat as a performing musician this is really bothersome as often after a day of rehearsals the conductor, or the ensemble changes the program slightly.

When you've spent the whole day writing in dynamics, articulation and general instructions up to 40 pages of screen shots need to be made - recompiled (and respect the correct order).

Last week I'll give an example. We had a world première of Philippe Hersant's new piece http://maisondelaradio.fr/article/philip...-fournaise
During the LAST rehearsal he decided to change a WHOLE passage!
So my "workaround" instead of rescanning the page reinserting it into the score was to write his new notes on top of the existing page.

VERY SLOPPY.

I'm sorry to harp on this but 4 score on Ipad will easily flatten the pdf and therefore you can print it out, share, or in this case easily rearrange the pages even within the program.

Just curious: how did the other musicians handle this? Less sloppy?

Mike is working on a facility to export the PDFs with annotations, I think this will overcome most of the current problems.

Answer :
Old fashioned paper and scotch tape!
I was the ONLY musician of 90 using a tablet.
So in this instance the old way is still the best Dodgy

Sometimes, the old way is the best.

During rehearsal, I make performance notes with pen and paper. Quite honestly, I find this better than working direct on the tablet. It's quicker and less distracting for the other players.

I can then transfer them to the tablet in my own time.

Yes indeed, but when you rehearse until ten the bus leaves at 8 and you have barely enough time to eat and sleep it would be more convenient that the program worked better.
As I mentioned I used 4 score https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/forscore...38376?mt=8
on the Ipad from January 2014 until December when I bought an Android tablet.
Forscore easily arranges pages, flattens pdf and basically most editing or adding pages can be done within the program itself.
I had a panic situation in November with a changed program order at the last minute and Forscore worked perfectly (and much faster than my three colleagues scissors and scotch tape).

P.S.  Afterthought :
Another feature would be the opposite.
Concert this Sunday and I STUPIDLY managed to paste the same page TWICE into my pdf file.
No way to natively ERASE one page. Would be very convenient as I will lose all the annotations if I reuse the original pdf that was imported, or go through the long and cumbersome story of individual screen shots then reimporting them and hoping they are still in the right order....

Re-sorting pages, adding or removing pages and so on can be done by adding files and/or changing "Page Order" on the "Files" tab of the song editor.

The thing is if for instance I cut in the middle of the file, to skip this additional page, could I just then add the rest of the pages by adding the same file with therefore the same name and continue from the page after the doubled one?
I can try but it seems in terms of any computer program a file present TWICE with the same name might reek havoc?

The page order feature lets you specify any sequence of pages you want, so you could have breaks in it and do things like, 1-6,8-9,14-16. You can also repeat pages, so you could do 1-6,10-13,1-6. Is there some reason you can't utilize that instead of having to add the same file twice? Having said that, there is nothing that will prevent you from adding the same file twice. When the conflict is presented, you can either pick "Replace File" or "Use existing file".

CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR Cool

Yes indeed - and I thank you for the explanation, I got the file to skip the doubled page.

*BUT*
You know what?
Directly following the skipped page ALL THE ANNOTATIONS - that is is the totality - are doubled.
That means I have a page of isolated fingerings floating in space if you will along with dynamics, colors and whatever that proceed the page for which they were meant to be on.
The workaround was to manually erase each and all from the incorrect page and for the time being - it seems they "stick" to the page where they were intended.

Another problem :
Any links of course are also displaced a page later.
So this is a global problem.

Suggestion Angel  (and I know it's a MAJOR PAIN)
but if you had a native ability after flattening the pdf files to erase and therefore transform the original pdf this wouldn't happen.
4 score for instance does this on Mac OS.

Major Pain in the brain I know...
