Brand spankin new user! 
Managed to load many songs. When I use annotation, I find that the top of the song pdf is covered by the annotation bar at the top of the screen. I thought that the song automatically should move down.
 Is there a setting somewhere to affect this?

Yes, open the annotation editor, tap the settings icon at the top right, then enable the option to move the page below the toolbar. Just be aware that if you use a stylus and start trying to write on the page, it's going to shift the page down as you are about to write on it with that setting enabled.
