In terms of backups and restores, I don't seem to see any information in the application concerning which backup was most recently restored and whether there have been changes to that since the restoration.

I'm not expecting to see anything like a versioning system, but just knowing the name of the last backup (full file path or even just the basename) restored and whether any editing has been done on the library since that restoration could be very helpful.  Is that information available currently?

No, that kind of information is not stored in the app at the moment.
