Organising files that aren't songs
#1
Can I rename Songs? Maybe call it Files, or can I hide pdf files added that are not songs?

I'd like to add some exercises and practice pdfs that aren't songs, put them in a Collection. But I'd prefer if they don't show up in Songs, where all imported files seem to go into. Can I change the name 'Songs' or change where files go?
I've looked around and there doesn't seem to be a way to organise how I thought to do it.  I prefer not to have Songs, and a collection named songs also. any suggestions?

Thanks. It's a nice program, just getting it set up to suit.

Everything goes in to "Songs" - this is the master list of what is available

Create separate collections for your different categories.

Remember that a song can be in more than one collection.

You can use a filter to restrict displayed songs a to particular collection (or collections)

Setlist are also available but that is usually for something like a gig where you want to play songs in a particular order.

Sorry, I but don't see your problem; this is the way it is designed and supposed to work; Songs is a list of all the pieces known about my MS
It sounds as though you want to call it something else so you can use the word "Songs" for your own purpose. If this was possible, it would make life very difficult for people trying to support you because the accepted meaning for Songs would be different from yours.

Just put the songs you want in a collection called  "Some Songs"   (replace "Some Song" with something showing what it contains)
Put your notes in a collection called "Some Song Notes" or whatever
Select the collections(s) you are interested using the filter; this will restrict the songs to collections chosen by the filter. Although you are not trying to do this here, can also select any song that contains specific text in it's filename or metadata (but not based on the contents shown on the song page)

A collection can be sorted in A-Z to ease jumping around and/or scrolling

On reflection, does Mike offer a library setting to use "piece" when refering to a song; this chnage the Songs tab to Pieces, I believe that this was implemented for users who wanted to call all their songs "Pieces" whereas it sounds that you want to use both forms of the name. Still, might be worth giving it a try to see if it does what you want.

You can create a collection called Songs and hide the Songs tab via Library Settings - Tab Selection and Order.
But be aware that you need the Songs tab to remove songs completely from your MobileSheets database.
A collection only has "Remove songs from collection" - they stay in the database and on the Songs tab. That's how it is designed.
I recommend to get used to behaviour and wording as it is designed.

... "Maybe call it Files" ...
Note the songs and files are NOT the same in MobileSheets: a song can consist of several files and a PDF file can contain many songs.

Thank you for trying to help Itsme.

That's it really. I want to add pdf files that are not songs, they are notation exercises and sheets like that. But I do want to have them in MusicSheets so I can link keyboard registrations to them. So I didn't like when they were in Songs by default, and that is what prompted my question. I do have an Exercises Catagory for these files.

I did not realise that I could hide the default Songs and just work from my own Headings. That helped me a lot, thank you!!

Thank you that could work, and itsme thinks the 'Songs' can be hidden, so I can work from my own Headings. I have lots of options now.

Appreciate the help.

I found this. It will spare me confusion so I'm pretty pleased with how setting it all up is going now.
Thanks
