Title formatting only partially works
#1
Hi, I'm thinking this must be a bug in the Companion. If it did not do any title formatting I would have just assumed that's how it worked, but it seems to do some formatting, meaning there must have been some attempt to make it work Smile . Here is what I am seeing: I have set my title formatting to %COMPOSERS%: %COLLECTIONS% %TITLE% %CUSTOM_GROUPS%

I have a collection called "String Quartet", and I use custom_groups to indicate the instrument. Let's say I add the 4 parts to Beethoven's String Quartet No. 1 in F to my library. The title of all four parts is "No. 1 in F", and the 4 instruments are Violin1, Violin2, Viola, Cello. This works fine in MS and I see:

Beethoven: String Quartet No. 1 in F Cello
Beethoven: String Quartet No. 1 in F Viola
Beethoven: String Quartet No. 1 in F Violin1
Beethoven: String Quartet No. 1 in F Violin2

But in MS Companion, it looks like it is only picking up the first field, my colon (":"), and then the title. I see this:

Beethoven: No. 1 in F
Beethoven: No. 1 in F
Beethoven: No. 1 in F
Beethoven: No. 1 in F

So Companion is picking up %COMPOSER% and the colon, but then losing the rest of my format, and adding the title by default? Or something like that. It's not a huge problem as I can tell what is what in Companion by adding another display column for custom_groups. But it appears that Companion is looking at my format "to some extent", but missing the whole picture.

I'll look into it. The same exact code is being used for the formatting in the companion app for the title field, so I'm surprised it's not working identically for you.

I just tested this with version 3.9.17 of the main app and version 4.1.5 of the companion app. I set the same title format as you, connected to the companion app and the title that was displayed for my songs perfectly matched what was shown on the tablet. So I'm not able to reproduce the issue. Please go to Settings->Backup and Restore->Export Settings on the tablet and email the .mcf file to mike@zubersoft.com.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike, I just bought my tablet 6 days ago (Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra) and bought MobileSheets 5 days ago, so I'm still getting my feet wet and setting up. I just verified that I have the same versions of both MobileSheets (3.9.17) and the Companion (4.1.5) as you mention above. I have created the .mcf file using Export Settings and I will email it to you shortly. Thanks for looking!
