What you are describing are the changes I already have planned for annotations - the ability to create them and perform basic actions/editing without having to go into the editor.   I will still have the editor for more advanced editing, but simple drawings and such will be possible in the main view.  It requires some pretty major design changes that have been described in previous posts.  I think all of this is really separate from supporting pen features.  Being able to erase with the pen eraser end or switch to annotation editing when the pen is detected are things I think I will be able to do.
