I can confirm that using a roland um-1 mk2 works with my Korg Pa700.
I tried everything to get my Laptop to talk to the Korg with no success.
I also tried using a USB Hub and the Korg was recognised and installed the Korg Driver but it still didn't work.
It works perfectly with the roland um-1 mk2
My only problem now is I use Midi Bass Pedals with my Korg PA700 and I don't have anywhere to plug the roland um-1 mk2 into
So I have Midi Merge Box coming so I can plug two Midi inputs into one
