My workaround: I try to assign all of the songs in a CSV file to a unique collection or album. This allows me to do some quality control checking after import (check that all metadata is present for a sampling of songs, page through the whole file and make sure the page ranges for each song are correct, etc.) If I find errors I can select all of the songs in the unique collection or album and delete them from the library. Then I can fix the csv file, save it, and then reimport.
