I had set it to default to being enabled because I had the opposite issue with some users (they had a gray bar with the setting off and didn't know to turn it on) and I didn't think it would cause problems for the vast majority of users. Turns out that is wrong and some devices have a gray bar shown if it's on. So I can't win either way, so I'm going to switch it back to defaulting to false/unchecked.
It would help to know if the setting was enabled or disabled on your device though. If it's disabled and that causes a problem, and enabling it fixes the problem, then that will change my plans.

Thanks Mike. That helped, but not by itself. I toggled that option off, but it didn't sort the issue, even after force closing the app and re-opening it. I then played around with the nearby options, especially the "Hide navigation bar", and somehow my issue is sorted, even with the options "Hide window decor" and "Hide nav bar" being on or off independently. I really don't know what was triggering the issue, as now I can't even replicate it!
But now I learned that if I hide the nav bar I get some extra pixels to use, as every one on my phone's screen is precious given its size!
Thanks again so much for your quick and valuable help!
