You may need to use a fixed width font if you want to stick with text files to ensure everything lines up. Tap the center of the screen while viewing the file, tap the A at the top right and tap "Text Display Settings". Then change the font dropdown to Monospace.

Alternatively, you may want to consider using ChordPro files instead. Using ChordPro files ensures all chords line up perfectly with the lyrics, and you have access to many more features and options.
