This is the overview then:

1) Go to Settings->MIDI Settings->MIDI Device Type and set it to Genos
2) Go to Settings->MIDI Settings->Configure MIDI Connections, switch the library to "Google", and tap the input and output ports for the Genos so that they show "connected".
3) Long press a song on the library screen to select it, tap "Edit Song" at the top of the screen, go to the MIDI tab and tap the chain link icon. 

That will link the song to the active registration (and button) on the Genos.
