If you go to Settings->Touch & Pedal Settings->Pedal Actions, tap the keys field for pedal 1, tap clear, then tap the left pedal switch, what key is shown? Then tap clear again, ptress the right pedal switch and tell me what key is shown. This will help us determine what is happening. Make sure that a different key is sent from each pedal switch and also ensure each pedal action is assigned a different (and unique) key. 

If you don't see any key show up with one of the pedal switches, then there is a major problem. One other thing I should mention is: 

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboards.

• Ensure features like Full Keyboard Access are off.

That can cause major problems if it's enabled.
