I have a special eye on the no more really new Samsung S8/S9 Ultra devices, yielding a 14.6" display. They are (rather) frequently offered for less than 500 EUR on the German 2nd hand markets.
Sometimes the price tag even begins with a 3.
With my eyes growing older I'll eventually buy two of them to (re-) create a two-sided display, as I did some time before with my old but still working well 12.2" Samsungs, see https://www.zubersoft.com/mobilesheets/f...l#pid27658
Lately I replaced the wooden frame and the metallic hinge by 3d printed TPU structures, which reduced the overall thickness and adds to device safety against pushes off the stand, see http://linguadapt.de/special/privat/tabl...235258.jpg . The next iteration step (for the larger tablets) will additionally see a separate compartment for the pen that gives free access to it when the "book" is opened, and automatically closes when the hinge is closed. We'll see ...
