So, a simply resolution is just to unplug the charger when you are using tablet and put the charging usb back in when you are not using it (I guess that's what you are doing now).
Yeah, that's what I do now and I don't mind exercising the battery during rehearsal, I just don't want to have to worry about it crapping out in the 4th set.

Pedal: Tatoo pedal wired through the usb interface board from a busted keyboard and connected using an OTG cable.
Mount: Manos Mount on a sawed off tripod mic stand.
