MobileSheetsCompanion 1.2.3 and .NET issues
#1
When I try to update the companion to v1.2.3, it says:
"This setup requires the .NET Framework version 4.0. Please install the .NET Framework and run this setup again. The .NET Framework can be obtained from the web. Would you like to do this now?"

I've tried this multiple times unsuccessfully (there's nothing wrong with my .NET Framework and it is installed). So, I installed the older Amazon version and now my Toshiba Thrive (updated to v2.4) cannot communicate with the MobileSheets companion (which requires the newer version). Seriously?!

What am I doing wrong? It all used to work ...

I had to completely uninstall .net and reinstall the full version. For whatever reason reinstalling over the existing didn't work. Try uninstalling first. Hope that helps...

I'm a computer systems administrator ... I did that first and foremost and I still have no success!

Did you try downloading .NET from the link on the downloads page? Please try downloading it from here and let me know how it goes. http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/det...x?id=17851

I apologize for the inconvenience. I introduced one new widget that had a different .NET dependency and it's really caused a lot of problems.

Yes, I did (it was the first thing I tried). When that didn't work, I completely uninstalled and reinstalled it without success. I also tried a fresh install (using the link on the downloads page again) and then did not let Windows Update install its updates to see if that would make a difference (it didn't).

Out of curiosity, are you using Windows 7, Vista or XP? I'm going to verify that I built the Companion App with the latest version of .NET, because if I didn't, this may be the problem. I wish I could reproduce this problem...

Windows 7, SP1 (Home Premium) ... I completely uninstalled and used your link to reinstall .NET (one last time). I didn't let the Windows Update download/install the .NET patches, but tried to install the Companion App and ... IT WORKED THIS TIME (I didn't do anything different from my previous attempts)! I then let the patches install and started the Companion App without any problems. Being a system administrator, this sounds like a problem with Windows to me.

I really do appreciate you taking the time to respond, though. Thanks!

For anyone else that experiences this problem, try what eljahewa did, or you can try using the .NET removal tool from Microsoft to remove .NET and then manually re-install .NET 4.0. After doing more research, I discovered that this problem happens quite a bit with .NET, and is a result of the installer claiming success when it actually failed.

FYI, I updated the companion and installed .NET 4.0 when prompted, but the companion still crashed. I then reinstalled the companion and it still crashed, but a restart of my computer solved the problem. Presumably .NET didn't finish installing until after a reboot.

Had everything working (finally) last week with over a half dozen consecutive success syncs.. Tonight I have attempted to upload some new sheets, and nothing is connecting.

Have you tried the usual trick of disabling and enabling wifi on the tablet?
