You can delete the unused entries from the tabs those entries belong to. So if you have composers you don't need, go to the composers tab, filter on unassigned, and you can delete them all in one go.

sorry for not being able to follow your line of thoughts here. I use the German translation, so the field names and entries are not the same as your composer example is addressing.

I think I did what you suggested: Going to the composers' tab, select composer, filter for type "not assigned" (translating to "Nicht zugeordnet") => returns a composers' count of (57/87), and a long list of composer names following. But when I enter individual entries in this list I find entries like "Ketelbey A.W.", followed by "Ketelbey W.A." If I click these items to check if there are really no songs assigned I find a song assignment for the first, but none for the 2nd. I can only interpret this as faulty behaviour if I didn't make some dumb mistake.

And there are many composers in the list I definitely know to have entries, without potential abandoned doublets.

To add, I know there are two entries for Purcell as composer: one for "Purcell" and another one for "Purcell H.". In the filtered list (showing the Ketelbey example from just above with two composer entries) only the "Purcell" is returned, correctly without a song assignment, but not "Purcell H." that, as I know, has one.

Now I don't understand the difference between the behaviour for the Ketelbey and that for Purcell entries.

Of course I won't dare to click on any "erase all" function now, as I don't want to delete quite a lot of assignment work that went into my library.

What am I missing?
