Bold = Bold + Italic
#1
Finally getting around to mentioning this odd-ball that isn't a big deal...

When I boldface my annotations, they also get italicized (see "Tag" in screenshot). I also noticed today before reporting that the Italics button does nothing to the font, either with or without Bold. It's like both operations are attached to the Bold button and no operation is attached to the Italics button.

This is on macOS, MS 3.8.0. Font = "Light".

Further testing shows that some fonts, like "Serif", work fine regarding B/I. And other fonts have yet other strange behavior. So it definitely appears to be font-specific.

Not every font supports a bold or italic variant. I only see an issue with the "Light" font - every other font I tested seems to work. Which fonts are you seeing issues with? Does it only happen when editing existing text annotations, or does it also happen with new text annotations?

Thanks,
Mike

Font:
  • System Default and Serif and Condensed: works fine
  • Monospace: Neither B nor I appears to be supported
  • Sans Serif: B seems to work backwards (on is not bold, off is bold) but otherwise fine
  • Condensed Light: I appears not to be supported
  • Medium and Thin and Black: B appears to not be supported
  • Light: B = B+I; I does nothing

That is to be expected - many of those fonts don't have bold or italic variants.
