The title says it - unless filter options are already set in the setlist browser editing a setlist will start without filter options displayed on my Galaxy S22. If I specify a filter argument earlier the filters will be available in the editing too. That must be a bug - you always want to have access to filtering. Or am I holding it wrong?
Bug? Edit setlist on smartphone without filter options displayed

If you set up filters before editing a setlist, when you edit the setlist, the same filters should be active. You do have to toggle the filters to show/hide in the group editor in order for them to show up, but that choice should be persisted. There is one other setting that should be mentioned - Settings->Library Settings->Reset Filters After Exiting Group Editor will determine if filters are cleared after editing a group.
So let me ask this - are you saying that you've set filters on the library screen, then edited a setlist and those filters are not active? Thanks, Mike

Not quite, what I am saying is that if I enter editing without having set a filter there's no possibility anymore to set it from within editing. That is not ideal. If I enter editing with a filter set the filter options will be visible inside editing even if I clear all the options. That's the way it should be in my opinion. Otherwise one has to leave editing only to set filter options...

You just need to tap the three dots at the top right corner of the group editor and tap "Show Filters". They are hidden by default.

Because this came up again recently and I couldnt figure it out at that moment....
When holding the phone in portrait mode those tree dots as well as half the "Save" Button are not visible! So unless the user tilts the phone to landscape "by accident" he will not be able to tap the three dots... Perhaps that can be remedied with an update.

Originally, it was never the intention for MS to be used on a phone - the screen is just too small. I appreciate that some users keep their MS on a phone as an emergency backup (I do myself) but to expect to do that and not have any limitations in the display is unreasonable.

I am not trying to be unreasonable but merely to point to a problem in usability. - in my understanding this is the whole point of this forum. I understand that most people are not trying to use MSP on a smartphone. On the rare occasions I have been doing this I was glad that I could. If the developer thinks this is not worth fixing who am I to disagree

I think Mike has more than enough on his hands and working on a change - that will not affect many users and is outside the original remit of the software - is a waste of his time and effort.
As a single developer, he has been outstanding in the work he is doing and the amazing support he gives. I can think of many major software companies who could learn a lesson or two from him.

Can you please take a screenshot of your device? It looks perfectly fine for me running in an emulator (as that's really the easiest way for me to test on various phone sizes). Did you increase the font size dramatically or the display scaling in the main device settings? I tested on a 6.0" phone emulator which should match your phone pretty well, and saw nothing like what you are describing. I also tested on a 4.6" phone emulator, which is way smaller, and there were still no issues.
Thanks, Mike

I can second any of the praises @GraemeJ mentioned - Mikes engagement and support is outstanding.
Nonetheless I think it is his to decide which problems are worth of his attention. As already said this is not a showstopper and now as I know I can display the three dots by rotating the phone its an easy workaround. Before wasting time on fixing this I would rather vote for a checkbox toggle the sorting of lists (e.g. setlists) between ascending and descending... Here is the screenshot, Mike. Have a good week
I've updated the action bar configuration on that screen for small devices so that the cancel button is only displayed if there is room, so it will be placed in the overflow menu with the German translation after the next update.
Thanks, Mike |
