After the import of:

{capo: 2}
[D] [E]

the chords are not displayed correctly. It appears:

D E

but not - as expected

C D

Text Display Settings shows correct: Capo: 2

My workaround is:
in Text Display Settings
change Capo to another value - save -
change Capo to the previous value - save
-> chords are then displayed correctly

That is because capo visibility is turned off by default (meaning it will not be applied when transposing chords). If you manually switch the capo value, it's going to flip it on (it's the little eye icon in the text display settings). There was a whole discussion about this on the forum, and the end result is that capo directives are honored in terms of populating the capo value and displaying them in the capo display, but they are not applied to chords unless you manually switch that on by tapping the eye icon.

What precisely do you want to achieve? Capos are used by string instruments, and in the string world this means: put a capo on 2nd position and play the chord shapes 'D' and 'E'. These will sound as 'E' and 'F♯' respectively.

So if you are a string player and want to use a capo, the best settings are to display the capo with the song (Settings > Text File Settings > Capo Display Settings), and not click the eye. If you're not using the capo, do not display the capo with the song and click the eye. 

Also, make sure that Settings > Text File Settings > Modulate Capo Down is checked.

No, I see it differently.
The chords should be in the chordpro-file as they should sound and in the display as they are played.
If a file says: [E] [B] [F#]

- a keyboard player can import the file as it is.
The following appears on his tablet: E B F#

- a guitar player can add {capo: 2} before importing or set "Text Display Settings / Capo: 2".
The following should appear on his tablet: D A E (and "Capo: 2")

This means that both can play together and use the same file.

I had assumed that {capo: 2} in the chordpro file triggers exactly the same thing as setting it manually in "Text Display Settings".
But the difference is that the "Eye" has to be switched on manually.

Fortunately MSPro and ChordPro provide several ways to achieve either approach.

For example, in ChordPro (www.chordpro.org), either guitar-centric:

{capo-guitar: 2}
{transpose-keyboard: 2}
[A] will show as A with capo 2 on guitar and B on keyboard.

or keyboard-centric:

{capo-guitar: 2}
{transpose-guitar: -2}
[A] will show as G with capo 2 on guitar and A on keyboard.
