syncronizing issues
#1
Hey, folks!

I have a pair of Onyx BOOX MaxLumi2s that I use for a 'life-size' 2-page spread. It was almost completely flawless, until maybe four months ago. Truth be told: I don't remember exactly when this started happening, but... okay, I normally keep the two tablets in sync by using wi-fi (have yet to get Bluetooth to work, but I can make my phone a hotspot in a pinch), having one as the 'server' and the other using direct connection. Basically I make sure all my rehearsal annotations are done on the server device (I labeled them "1" & "2" so I don't get mixed up!), then when I get back to my office I use our building's wi-fi to connect the two and run the sync. What's been happening is that it now takes a good ten minutes to sync (where, unless I was working with a larger file, it would be <1 min) - *because* it's repeatedly syncing a handful of scores (14, I believe) and two of them are massive (one is the complete piano/conductor score of Legally Blonde). The kicker is: I haven't opened most of those scores in over a year. What would be causing MS to think they need syncing, and (short of removing them & re-adding, which I suspect would lose all my annotations) how do I get it to stop?

I think it would be best to get your tablets matching again (as far as the database). To do this, create a library backup file on the primary device under Settings->Backup and Restore->Backup Library, and restore that backup file on the second device. Then you should be able to sync and it should be back to working incredibly quickly. Normally MobileSheets should just look at the file hashes to detect when nothing has changed and skipped any data that is not necessary. Some sort of change has occurred between your devices where it sounds like this is not working as intended. Hopefully making the second device match the first with a backup file will get things back into a good state.

I don't know what the change would have been. I did as you suggested - which erased my leader/follower settings. Perhaps I should have known that, but I didn't. Got that back together; noticed that at least one file was missing from the 2nd tablet (and hooray for my Swiss-cheese memory: it was definitely one of the 14 that was resyncing every time). Trying to re-sync now... *459* files are somehow different, so (of course) the sync is taking several times as long as when it was doing 14. I only have a bit shy of 1200 files total.

What the heck?

If a second sync after the first still has that issue, then I'll need you to share that backup file with mike@zubersoft.com so I can try to look at your settings and reproduce what you are seeing, as that would be very abnormal behavior.

Thanks,
Mike
