Pedal not working - change from Samsung to iPad
#1
Hi all, I've just changed from Samsung (Android) to iPad (IOS) and have purchased MobileSheets again for continuity purposes.

I have a Donner pedal that, needless to say, worked flawlessly with the Samsung. However, I can't get it to work on IOS. I've connected it via Bluetooth and have followed the various threads on this forum to fix it but without success. One of the recommendations is to go into the settings / pedal etc. and for "Pedal 1", press the pedal and see what letters come up. Anyway, whenever I press a pedal anywhere in the application (within a piece of music itself, in the settings, in the menus, in the lists of sheets, etc.) the application will minimize itself and leave me with the IOS screen (application icons etc). Note that I've tried each of the 5 settings on the pedal and the only one that does anything at all (currently the minimization!) is the setting I use for the Samsung. The config for pedals on both the samsung and the iPad are identical (in fact, I restored the backup from the samsung to the iPad).

I'm sure there's a simple switch somewhere in IOS (or the MobileSheets app?) to resolve this but I can't find it! I'm hoping that someone has seen this and goes "ah, this again - here's the switch to change ..." rather than going through a full diagnosis of the problem Smile

There is only one setting I'm aware of that can cause problems on an iPad. Go to the main tablet settings->Accessibility->Keyboards & Typing and make sure "Full Keyboard Access" is toggled off. If that does not help, you could also try toggling it on I suppose to see if there is any difference, but one user indicated that it had to be off in order for their pedal to work correctly.

Thanks Mike, I tried that and it made no difference... really strange problem and really frustrating!

That is very frustrating... If you load up any other app and press the pedal, does the same thing happen with it going back to the home screen? If so, that would imply that the pedal is sending some kind of command to the tablet to return to the home screen, which is very strange. Are there any other switches or toggles on the donner pedal that can change modes beyond the keys that are sent?

Is the pedal still paired with the other tablet?

Just a guess, I have no experience with pedals!

Good thought - yes it is. It's something I can check (by unpairing)... Thanks!

There's only 5 settings on the Donner pedal and I've tried each in turn so don't think so. I can check on an ipad forum to see if anyone else has a clue. Meanwhile, I'll try the "other app" test you mention.... Thanks!
