Automating imports/sync
#1
I'm running MobileSheets on a Windows Surface Pro. Love it. I'd like to automate the process of scanning new charts so they show up more-or-less automatically in MobileSheets. I'm comfortable scripting, writing webhooks, etc. if that's possible.
My current workflow is:
- Scan the pages on my scanner, save to Dropbox (CANON_SCAN or something like that)
- Move them to my "MobileSheets Import" Dropbox folder
- Get the Surface Pro, go to Import, select Dropbox, pick the most recent files, import them (setting various metadata)
- Move the imported files to "Imported" subfolder so I remember I did it.

I'd like to set up IFTTT or something to make this simpler. Does MobileSheets have an API, or can I just drop PDFs in a sync folder so when it syncs it'll pick them up? (Does it even auto-sync periodically?) I'm open to any options.

MobileSheets does not have an API, and is unfortunately limited by the restrictions placed on UWP applications. You can't load it easily with command line parameters and it also will not have access to any local files that were not selected using Microsoft's file picker. One of my long term goals is to switch the app over to Avalonia so it will be a normal desktop application without all these restrictions. At that point in time, it would open up a lot more possibilities for automation. There is no automatic synchronization available either. The closest thing is the library synchronization feature, but this won't work for what you are trying to do. You can batch import an entire cloud or local folder if desired and MobileSheets will ignore files that are already in the library.
