Please see the attached screen shot.
I have a single registration with 9 buttons. The default for the page midi and for the smart button are both set to RGT button 1

If I have multiple smart buttons they will all work as expected, however, in this case I only have 1. I was on registration 6 and decided to go back to registration 1 by pressing the smart button. It didn't work and stayed on registration 6.

What did I try?
I changed the pause time in the midi commands from 0.5 seconds to 1.5 seconds, but that didn't make any difference.

Work Around
Not urgent as I can just push the registration button instead. 

Possible Cause? 
I wonder if it queries the Genos and then after it sees that the same registration is being used then it terminates the request prior to setting the button?

It should be fine to set up MIDI messages to change to a different button under the same registration - I test that all the time but with songs (not smart buttons). I'll run some additional tests with smart buttons to see if there is some issue specific to those.

Is this just related to the same issue you posted about in your other post? I just tested this and it worked fine. I loaded a one page song, added a smart button to use the first registration button, selected the second registration button, pressed the smart button and it switched back to the first registration button.

Hi Mike, 

I tried 2 other cables and 1 was very short. No difference. I guess they could all be duffers.
BTW This is a very minor issue; it was just something I tripped over. I am sure you have better things to be doing as most people probably won't hit this. 
 
Okay so works for you, but not for me. Hmmm. 
Staying on the combo smart button, which sets on reg 1, change to reg 4, say, and then press the combo button again - nothing changes and it stays on reg 4. 

In the smart button definition, I copied the sysex command and then Edit Midi Command and added a step specifically to test it. 
Pressed reg 4 and did Test Midi Command. It worked fine, so I added it rather than cancel. 

So now I have:  send RGT, wait, send Button, send Button. Working. 
Recall earlier that I had increased the pause - so I have no idea what this is....
Like I said, most probably won't hit this. If you have any quick thoughts .... otherwise do something more important
