Transition Music
#1
Hi all,

I use MSP for playing backing tracks while reading associated .pdfs in a live gig atmosphere.
I would like to begin playing "incidental/transition music" between songs so there is not complete silence while I switch instruments, dial in a patch, etc.
It would be something like a background beat with a riff going - something low-key.
Ideally, it could be the same song/track/mp3 and that would be configured globally to play between songs, but I don't believe that's possible.

However, I thought maybe I could go into each and every song and add the transition music mp3(s) as a second track and save.
Then, presumably because I have "automatically play next track" set to ON and have the audio player set Track List to "current song's tracks"" instead of "all tracks in setlist" then it would do this for me.
And then, when I am ready, I can go to the next song and hit play.
(As I write this I then think - hmm...when I turn the page to the next song, it will cut off - UGH.)

Anyway, I tried this, but when the first (real song) completes, it does not go to the next audio file.

Does anyone know what's happening and why it doesn't begin playing the next track?

Or maybe more importantly,  anyone know the best way to do automatic transition music?

MSP 3.9.11 - just updated and tested again
Not using advanced audio player
Thanks in advance,
John

If a single song has multiple audio tracks and you've enabled the option to automatically play the next track, then that should definitely work. However, if you are wanting MobileSheets to play through audio tracks from different songs in order without you switching pages, that will only work if you switch the track list to "All tracks in setlist". I just tested having multiple audio tracks in a single song and letting the first finish, and watched the audio player automatically start playing the second.

Hey Mike - I restarted my Samsung and tried again no dice.
Then, changed to the advanced player AND IT WORKED.
But, I know I switched to the simple player when I experienced the crackling audio issue.
Bummer...
Any reason why it won't work with the simple player?

It appears to be a bug with the Android version. I will get it fixed for the next update. If you need an immediate fix and purchased the app through Google Play, contact me at mike@zubersoft.com and I can help you get an early build with a fix.

Hi Mike - thanks!

OK - I've been rehearsing my set for this weekend gig.

I have each song paired up with 1 of maybe 7-8 "background" beats - these are set to repeat A/B.
I have the volume on the background tracks set WAY LOW like 3-5 (in the audio player cfg).
This works fine (with the advanced player).

My plan is that while the player is playing this background ad-infinitum, I scroll forward to the next song in the list, and load and play with smartbutton "Load and Play."

BUT, I am finding several times, that the player will play the actual next track at that same very low volume setting as the background trac , thereby ignoring the relatively high volume I need for the next performed song.

I'll keep checking it out as the days go by.
I guess a workaround is to lower the volume in the background tracks by a bunch...

Any help is of course appreciated!

I'll have to look into that as well to see if I can reproduce it.
