using sync to recover after accidentally deleting files
#1
I regularly sync from mobilesheets pro on my android tablet to a google drive folder.  ("sync type" is "update folder", "merge behavior" is "always use data from device", checkboxes are all checked except "sync text display settings").

The other day I accidentally deleted a few files from the google drive folder.

I assumed I should be able to fix the problem by doing another sync.  But that doesn't seem to replace the missing files.

Is that expected?

Worst case, I suppose I can always figure out what the missing files are and copy them over manually, or delete the google drive folder and start over.

That is occurring because MobileSheets cached all the file information in the mobilesheets_hashcodes.txt file, so it doesn't check for missing files. If you check the option to "check for updated files", then it will scan every file to see if it's changed (or missing) and will act based on that.

Right, I thought that might be the case, but in fact checking that box isn't causing it to replace the missing files.

I'll have to look into that then. That might be a use case scenario I didn't plan for (users just deleting files out of the sync folder). The feature is not really designed for users to mess with the sync folder in any way - it should be managed entirely by MobileSheets if you want it to work reliably (I know you said it was an accident though). You'll have to manually copy in the files from the tablet then.

Yeah, not the main case, but maybe the case that the "check for updated files" option exists for?

My tablet still had everything and it only took a few minutes to scrap the google drive folder and resynchronize to a new folder from scratch, so, no big deal.

(What happened, FWIW: some time in recent months google drive changed so that by default instead of first showing your top-level "my drive" folder, it shows a page with "suggested" (mostly recently used?) files.  I noticed that a lot of those recently used files were just temporary things I'd bounced through drive to import into mobilesheets, so I figured I should delete them to free up space.

Except they *weren't* actually those temporary files, they were the files in their final location in the folder that I sync to.  The "suggested files" list does actually have a column for the containing folder, so I should have noticed....  D'oh.)

I did think that the "Check for updated files" option should have worked, so yes, I may need to look into that, as generally I would want that to work.
