Metronome small usability improvement - new tempo same as old tempo
#1

(I know this is not a really big deal just a minor UX improvement, I just like to provide thoughts for the developer in case they value those ideas)

In the "piece display" page's metronome menu, there is the ability to hit the "+" button to add a new tempo. When you do this, the newly created tempo starts at the minimum value of 10 bpm.

I think it's a safe bet to assume that most users when they start a new tempo don't intend to put it to or near 10bpm. For myself, when I create a new tempo, it's usually pretty close to the one I just had open. Maybe I had 80 open and now want to create one at 85 or 90. Or I had 120 open and want to add a tempo at 130.

The only issue is that it's kind of hard and delicate to navigate all the way from 10 to 85, you need a precise movement of the finger to slide to the 80-90 ballpark and then tap +/- a few times to get to the precise tempo. It's not a super big deal but making the super precise movement on the slider can be tricky when you're already kind of holding an instrument and off balance or on a wobbly music stand kind of thing.

I think probably a really easy thing to change would be, when you create a new metronome, it opens with the initial tempo equal to that of the one that was just open. That way it's an easy few taps of the +/- to get to the new target tempo.

I'd definitely like to hear feedback from others as well. Would everyone prefer the new tempo to be the same as the active tempo? Would this be confusing in any way?

Thanks,

An alternative or perhaps complementary change could be to have coarse-gained, in addition to fine-grained tempo adjustments. So, add a "++" and a "--" that goes up/down by 10. Something like:

10 bpm is a really low default, few charts would need that.  Personally, I'd go for 100 bpm as the default.  Much Pop is around 120 and much Classical is lower and 100 seems to be a good starting point for a lot of music.

I use 10 as the default because I basically treat it as "not set", which is very helpful for some optimizations. The only question is whether I should do this for additional tempos beyond the first, as the optimizations can't be applied if the song already uses one valid tempo.

Perhaps it might be possible to set a default tempo in the 'Settings' menu?
