Library transfer failed partially [solved]
#1
I tried to transfer a library from a Samsung S7+ (SM-T796B) to a further tablet (TCL Nxtpaper 14)
and did it this way:

TCL:
- Install MS
- create library "mylibrary", because this is the actual library name on S7+ I want to transfer.

- Let MS manage my files: unchecked
- MS storage location: my own location (not the default!)
- Expose database file: checked

S7+:
- Copy the file path I´m using to a stick
- Copy all MS database files also to a stick

TCL: (from stick)
- Copy file tree and complete database files to "my own location"
- Open MS (library mylibrary)
- - Settings
- - Other Settings
- - fix broken file path

Everything works as expected, BUT:

- some songs (not all!) original built by csv-import are wrong
(songbook specific, some books are ok, the most are wrong), that means
a songbook is either complete correct or complete wrong transfered.

- In library the correct PAGE_COUNT and PAGE_ORDER are displayed, but
if I open a song the full songbook is opened, not the selected song.
(see attachments, for orientation also song title formatting).

The PDF´s are ok, I digitalizied them by my own, they are correct.

Anyone any idea how to clear this?
thx4anyhelp.

Please go to Settings->Other Settings and make sure that "Reset Page Order if File Changes" is turned off. If that was turned on, then that is the problem with the page orders being reset and you'll need to copy over the database file again from the other tablet and overwrite the one MobileSheets modified.

.....wow.....such an easy solution and it worked, mentioned checkbox was "on".
I would never have thought of this setting.

Thank you so much!

Glad to hear it - you aren't the first user that has been caught by that. The setting is normally turned off by default, so I'm not sure how it might have been switched on for you.

....ups.....

I changed the setting to "enabled" by my own. Apparently completly wrong assumtion, that this setting does not cause any problems.
Meanwhile I imported/changed (outside MS)/reimported...... some test pdfs and now I know what this setting does.

But - if I´m honest - I don´t understand really the meaning of this setting,  just better "unchecked".

I´ll do further trials......maybe I´ll get it,.... sooner or later.....

Thanks again for this hint!

It was introduced a while back to resolve issues for users that replace a PDF with a new version that has a different number of pages to ensure the full range of pages is utilized. I did add code after that point to ensure that, if a user is currently using all of the pages of a PDF, and they replace it with a new version that has a different number of pages, that the full range is utilized when the file is replaced. This was only possible once I added a new field in the database to track the full number of pages for the PDF. So this setting is somewhat redundant now, and I may consider just removing it altogether.
