Two small (?) questions about layers - a function in Mobilesheets that I have just started fiddling with. Let's start with an example:

In a music score I have (pdf), there are original Italian lyrics and German translations. The German translations are of no interest to me, so I have covered them with white highlighter pen.  Then I have written in English lyrics on top of the highlighter.   In the layers panel, I can find the white highlighter as one element, and the handwritten English lyrics as several elements, all within one layer.

Now - If I want to erase some of the English lyrics, I also remove the white highlighter underneath, which is annoying.

Here are the questions - and suggestions that would make my process easier:

1) Is it possible to LOCK an element. If I for example could lock the white highlighter, I could delete the text on top without removing the highlighter.

2) Is it possible to COMBINE several elements into one. For some reason, the English handwritten text appear as several elements all over the page, which means I can't deal with them as one thing.

3) One way of dealing with this, could for example be to move all the English lyrics to a separate layer. I can easily create a new layer, but I don't see any way to move elements from one layer ot another. Is there?

What happens if you just paint again white highlighter over the english lyrics?

Some suggestions

1. Put the white highlighter in a separate layer (2) ? Then select which layer you are working on (I haven't tried it)
   or
   
2. White out all the german translations, and export the annotated file to a pc. Reimport the file and add your lyrics as required.
   

There are probably other ways (e.g. use a pdf editor on your pc before importing)

Did you open the Annotations/Toolbar/Layer menu? (English User Guide (1.1.7) p.134)

Here you can select every layer and every element.

1) Select in the Layer menu the requested Layer (tap on the layer; becomes green) and select (checkbox) element you want to delete - just this element will be deleted.
2) I don´t know.
3) Same procedure as 1) copy the requested element, then open new/other layer and paste it.

Done.

UPDATE to 2) Yes, you can select multiple elements on an layer, copy/delete.
And btw: there is a setting "combine freeform annotations", but I don´t know if this works with text.

Yes, I did open the  Annotations/Toolbar/Layer menu, and I know I can select every layer and every element. 

1)  Yes, I know I can delete only ONE element, but I wanted to know if I can LOCK an element. That is a logical question. Let's say I  for example want to erase a small part of element 1 without touching the underlaying element 2, which makes it logical to lock element 2, ai. prevent it from being edited.

3) ah, yes... That is an option! Choose an element (in the score), CUT it, choose another layer in the Layer menu and PASTE the element back into the score. I think it would have been much faster and elegant, however, if you could just drag and drop an element from one layer to another within the Layer menu.

Much of what you are asking for is planned for version 3.10.0 which is going to be focused on features related to the annotations functionality. I want to support moving annotations between layers, grouping annotations, and potentially locking annotations to prevent modification.
