User stamps causing crash?
#1
I started with MobileSheets on an Android tablet. Absolutely love it. Never had a crash. My sheets are a mix of pdf and chordpro. I wrote a script to generate a set of user stamps for chords on ukulele. I imported them and they work brilliantly. I was so impressed that I decided to install MobileSheets on another device.

I bought the Windows version through the Microsoft store. I sync'ed the tablet to a GoogleDrive folder then sync'ed the Windows device from GoogleDrive all from within MobileSheets. The sheets all copied across properly. All went well until I opened a sheet with user stamps. I haven't used any of the default stamps so I don't know whether this is specific to user stamps, or stamps generally. When I open a sheet with stamps MobileSheets hangs for a bit before crashing.

I checked the stamps widget and noticed that none of the user stamps had sync'ed. I tried to import them directly using the plus button. The import reports success but no user stamps are rendered within the widget.

I then installed the Android version on my phone and sync'ed that. There too the stamps didn't sync automatically however opening sheets with stamps didn't crash on my phone. When I imported stamps directly, the import reports success, however only those stamps that had been used in sheets on the tablet were displayed.

User stamps aren't super critical but I thought I'd share this as it might help the developers to fix a problem. The problem could well be with the user if I've failed to set something up correctly.

Thank you for making MobileSheets. I'm a very happy subscriber regardless of this issue.

Custom stamps are only transferred through the application settings. If you use custom stamps, and you synchronize to another device, it will copy over the custom stamp files so that the song loads properly, but it won't change the user's list of custom stamps (this is so that each user can still maintain their own list of custom stamps while synchronizing songs with other users). If you want to transfer all the custom stamps from one device to another, you have to go to Settings->Backup and Restore->Export Settings, transfer the .mcf file to the other device, and restore it under Settings->Backup and Restore->Import Settings.

The fact that the Windows version could not handle the custom stamps is concerning if this was with version 3.9.17. I may need to get a copy of the custom stamps from you (or a copy of the .mcf file). I'm using an open source library that is widely used on Windows to handle .svg files, and another open source library to use for rendering those svg files to an image (which is also widely used), so I'll be very curious to see what is failing.

Thanks,
Mike

Yes, 3.9.17. Happy to share anything in the interests of progress. Email sent.
