Well, I think I know what he wants.

There is no way to directly hide albums or collection. But you can use a little trick I use sometimes. Just create a collection or an album *hidden* (or whatever you like to name it).
Then you add all the items you want to hide to that collection/album.

Now if you want to hide the items you just use in the filters the exclude option and select *hidden*.

Then all items in that collection are hidden (and also not shown any more as the other collection/album).

No need for a new feature.
