I would really like to be able to run the companion app without a connected tablet. This way I could set up setlists or do some editing without having to have the tablet near me.
My PC / Laptop is still my main device (not the tablet), holding all sheets, pdfs, notation software. So it is always a little bit more complicated to create new sheets on the laptop via notation software, then switch on the tablet, start the companion and add the new sheet.
Of course the database must be present on the PC/laptop then, too, and must be synched to the tablet.
I know that this might be a bigger task, but maybe there are others who would appreciate such a feature, too.

Ah, okay, sorry for creating a new thread.
The existing thread and the proposed solution sounds interesting though.
