I want to try out MobileSheetsFree on my Chromebook by importing some sheet music from my Google Drive.

Why would the app would need access to my contacts? I value my privacy and the privacy of my contacts very much.

If I deny access, I don't get any further. This is a real disappointment as I can't imagine why a music pdf reader would need my contacts in order to be able to function.

Would the paid app ask me to do the same? And if so, if I deny access, would that then be the end of story as well?

Please, enlighten me.

This is because in order for MobileSheetsPro to access your account information, it requires the android.permission.GET_ACCOUNTS permission. I don't do anything with contacts at all, I don't use any information related to them and I don't have any permissions in the application to modify anything related to that. The only thing my app requires is the "GET_ACCOUNTS" permission. You can actually view this in the permissions information in Google Play when you install the application (it will list all of the permissions my app may request I believe). 

I know this seems misleading, but I can't control how Google defines permissions in the operating system unfortunately. 

Yes, the paid app is going to behave exactly like the free app, because it uses the same code to access Google Drive. If you deny access, I imagine Google's library is going to fail to retrieve your account information.

If you really value the privacy you should have already created separate Google account for trying stuff.

Thanks, Zubersoft, one should think that two years later Google would have implemented a better strategy to make the connecting function to the Drive work.
