or clamps where your on/off button is
I use the tablet cover folded back and made a few of these - elastic and clips - they go in-between the cover as shown and around the music stand so it does not fall off easily. The length of elastic is different so I can either mount the tablet portrait or landscape (although one of the clips can move along for adjustment to tighten) but I have several now in my bag and others use them for theirs if they do not have a secure mount system.
I also have a long one to stretch horizontally around a grand piano's music stand if I need it landscape.

Regarding the Hercules stand, has anyone had issues with the fit?

I think you guys are approaching this problem from the wrong direction. Rather than spend money on fancy brackets and holders, just buy a decent music stand. Something like this one - http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_orchest...remium.htm - will cost less and be far more useful all round.
Stands made out of a few flat strips of metal are way too flimsy to safely support anything more than a few sheets of music (no surprise there, that's what they were designed to do) and we all know how easy it is to knock one over. A stand, such as the one in the link, is far more substantial and you can safely place the tablet on it without resorting to clamps, Velcro, etc. and I am quite happy to put my 13" tablet on one of these.

IMHO, that type of stand is too big if you can avoid it
One of the reasons I switched from a laptop to a tablet was to replace the big music stand in front of my face with a tablet holder. So, while this was pricey and has a slight angle to it (much better since they sent me a replacement part), I am glad to have it instead of a large music stand. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BCFZ...UTF8&psc=1 Jeff (10-10-2013, 12:13 PM)GraemeJ Wrote: I think you guys are approaching this problem from the wrong direction. I have a number of options depending on what I am doing (sitting or standing and whatever instrument I am playing) for instance:
- a substantial music stand (aluminium) with large shelf, stable, heavy, room for stylus for annotations, scripts (paper stuff) etc. - a cheaper music stand (always in the car) useful for sitting, it is stable enough - a heavy microphone stand (heavy circular base) used with a tablet holder (good for playing standing), no angled legs (for anyone to trip over) - a low microphone stand (usually used for kick drum, guitar amps etc.) for sitting, attached tablet holder, low angle legs, widely spread for stability. Using the tablet holder, it does not block out as much (so I can see singer, conductor, pianist.) I have also used a single mic stand with two tablet holders (slightly different heights and positions)

My Herclules is only $40 and works well on a mic stand while standing. For sitting a boom would work. It also comes with a table top attachment. My original plywood holder worked equally well but was not attractive. I prefer the three leg mic stands because they are lighter and the wider base adds stability. I have probably used the holders for a hundred gigs without problems so far.

I did not get on with the Hercules/Grabtab. I could not adjust it to the correct angle on my stand and eventually sold it. For the moment I'm using a regular music stand and some Blu-tak to stop it sliding about.

Since it has a 360 degree ball joint swivel it covers just about any angle and can be mounted upside down. Any tablet mounted on a mic stand below the top can be restricted by the pole. If you don't use a mic there is no restriction on angle. Last night I used my tablet for violin and had two guitar players sharing with mic attached. When I first got mine I mounted it upside down - no problems since reversing.

Airturn's Manos tablet holder is another alternative:
http://airturn.com/manos-mount/products/...anos-mount Apparently it can hold up to a 13 inch tablet (although looking at the specifications, maybe not all of them?)

Thanks that does look pretty good. I would think that it should be able to handle just about any 13.3 tablet on portrait mode (since it was holding the smaller tablet width-wise in ladnscape mode).
Anyone use this?

This is from their website:
Introducing the AirTurn Manos Mount. It has two arms that can hold anything from a smartphone to a 13 inch diagonal screen tablet, and a set of thumbs and fingers at the end of each arm that can grip tablets as wide as an tablet in an Otterbox or a Griffin Survivor. Note: The narrowest dimension of your tablet cannot exceed 8.25". The 8.25" will be the limiting factor on a large tablet. Would this preclude the Hannspree 13?
Yes, it would. I think the narrowest portion of the Hannspree is 10.70 inches.
I guess I was misled by the clasps holding what I thought was an ipad the long way (because I am pretty sure the longest "length" of an i-pad is smaller than the narrowest "width" of the Hannspree). But, I think the picture was it holding a 7 inch tablet (or an iphone). So, thanks, yes you are right. I don't think this would work with the Hanspree. But I think its just a matter of time before tablet holders are developed/sold that can easily handle the Hannspree and other similar (13.3) tablets in portrait mode. If this holder were engineered sliight different, it would work fine. Too bad . . . (01-04-2014, 06:13 AM)bumblebee Wrote: This is from their website:
Vago I had a good idea for a stand for a large tablet (without using a full-sized music stand), but it required some DIY work.
http://zubersoft.com/mobilesheets/forum/...452&page=4 Has anyone tried this option with a 13 inch tablet? http://www.amazon.com/Stagg-MUS-ARM-Atta...pd_cp_MI_0 Jeff |
