MobileSheets v4.0.3 and MobileSheets Companion v1.4.2 Released
Posted by: Zubersoft - 02-02-2013, 02:18 PM - Forum: News - Replies (2)

I just released MobileSheets v4.0.3 and Companion App v1.4.2. This follow-up update addresses several bugs that were introduced, and also adds the ability to switch languages inside the app. Support was also added for Danish thanks to the efforts of Jens-Erik Hegelund. I truly have the best users out there. The list of changes is below:

MobileSheets v4.0.3
- Added Danish translation, and fixed other translation errors
- Added new option under Display Settings to change the language
- Fixed issue with the overlay modes not working correctly.
- Fixed issue with only the first link point end point rendering.
- Fixed issue with password protected PDFs not loading
- Added ability to import Gmail attachments.
- Changed naming of copied files to include song id at end to prevent file name conflicts

MobileSheets Companion v1.4.2
- File names now append the song id (to match the tablet)

Enjoy!

MobileSheets v4.0.2 and MobileSheets Companion v1.4.1 Released
Posted by: Zubersoft - 01-29-2013, 12:05 AM - Forum: News - Replies (15)

I'm very happy to announce the release of two new updates. These updates include a large number of bug fixes reported by users as well as a lot of very important enhancements. I think everyone is going to enjoy this release, and I've done my best to ensure that it's going to be a smooth one. I'm also thrilled to announce that MobileSheets is now available in Dutch, French, German and Spanish! I want to send a big thank you to Stephan Saul, Joël Roessel, Vicente Solsona, and Sipke Veenstra for their amazing contributions in helping me translate the software. I will be setting up a forum soon so that people can provide feedback and suggestions for the various translations. Without further ado, here is the list of changes:

MobileSheets v4.0.2
-Added German, French, Dutch, and Spanish translations
-Fixed connection issues with companion app. Added options to change the connection settings. Also added support for a manual connection option to bypass popup
-Added new drag and drop list that is much faster and more intuitive. Also supports quick deletion of items.
-Added new file browser that supports the selection of multiple files, and common file commands (create directory, delete, etc)
-Switched default database location back to internal storage to prevent errors from the SD card being locked
-Added option to switch database location to SD Card with internal backups
-Moved around settings, created a new category, and added database import and export options
-Fixed bug that was causing link points to disappear in certain situations.
-Fixed bug that prevented any more than two link points from being created
-Changed sliding window to popup windows that can be closed
-Fixed issue with password protected PDFs. They can be successfully added now.
-Fixed issue with importing files from emails or downloads
-Added option to exclude audio files from backups. Removed options to exclude other file types, as that is no longer needed with export database feature
-Huge number of minor bug fixes and layout adjustments

MobileSheets Companion v1.4.1
- Fixed various connection issues with tablet
- Added manual connection option as well as options to change connection settings
- Fixed drag and drop issues with the setlist editor.
- Files are no longer prepended with an id if you check the create subdirectories option.
- The song count is now correctly updated after a song is added
- Fixed issue where songs could be created without an artist or album.

Due to the large number of features I've added, I will need to update the manual soon to reflect these changes. I will be doing this while also working on the next update, which will introduce positional zooming, cropping and more. Thanks for the support everyone!

v4.0.2 Almost Ready, Workaround for database issue
Posted by: Zubersoft - 01-25-2013, 05:36 AM - Forum: News - No Replies

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm working as fast as I can to get the next update ready to fix some remaining issues. The following things are being addressed (among others):

- The library can still appear to be wiped out if the SD card is locked
- Link points can't be created, and are limited to 2 per song
- Connection issues with the companion application
- Password protected files aren't opening correctly
- Files can't be imported from emails
- Lack of way to import multiple files at once
- Sliding window is difficult to use (replacing with popup windows)

In order to fix the library issue, I have to move the database back to internal storage. When I made the change to move the database file, I did not take into account the fact that often that area of the SD card can be locked. When that occurs, my logic causes the library to not load correctly, which displays 0 songs. Unfortunately, this also results in the library being saved out with 0 songs. If you find that this happens to you right now, there IS a workaround. Please follow these directions:

Navigate to /sdcard/Android/data/com.zubersoft.mobilesheets/files with a file browser. In this directory, you should see a mobilesheets.db and a mobilesheets.db.backup. Verify that the backup file has a much larger size than the other (if it does not, then this workaround will not work). Delete mobilesheets.db, copy mobilesheets.db.backup, and paste it as mobilesheets.db. Go back to your home screen. Hold the recent button, and swipe MobileSheets to the right to force it to close. Do the same for the file browser. Now reload MobileSheets. Your library should load correctly now. If it does not, the directory listed above must have been locked, so you may have to repeat the steps.

This workaround is tedious, but I should have the update ready in the next couple days. Hopefully most people are not experiencing this issue. I have added the ability to import/export the database, so this should allow people to backup their song metadata manually if they want to.

Companion App Connection Issues - Tablet Internal Storage
Posted by: Zubersoft - 01-13-2013, 06:14 AM - Forum: News - Replies (2)

With the newest releases, many people are experiencing problems with the companion app connection. This is unfortunately due to a bug with the "Tablet Internal Storage" destination option. Please select SD Card instead of this, and you will not receive a connection problem. I think people are misunderstanding the difference between these options. SD Card does not mean removable SD Card (that's what the Removable storage option is for), it means use the tablet internal SD card. Internal storage is a specialized storage location that is hidden from everything except MobileSheets. As stated in the manual, it is NOT recommended that you use internal storage unless you don't have any other choice.

Having said all that, this has motivated me to remove the Internal Storage option, and leave a new option in place for "Default Application Storage". I will determine if an internal SD card is present on the tablet (which almost every tablet has), and automatically store it there. I will release yet another update this weekend to fix this issue, as many people seem to be using Internal Storage and are running into issues.

  MobileSheets v4.0 Released
Posted by: Zubersoft - 01-11-2013, 06:52 PM - Forum: News - Replies (2)

It's been a pretty crazy week for me, and I unfortunately caused a lot of excitement (in a bad way) for a lot of my users with v3.9. In the future, I promise I will do everything I can to prevent this kind of incident again. I'd much rather delay updates for testing than to potentially mess up people's performances. I want to apologize again for any of the problems I may have caused you all. I also appreciate the users that didn't immediately go on Google Play and leave me a one star review. Having your support really makes all the difference. I will continue to do everything I can to make MobileSheets a top-notch product, even if there are a few stumbles along the way.

With that out of the way, I'm happy to say that I have an update that should fix the errors caused with v3.9. This update is going to attempt to move the library database file again, but this time, it will correctly handle any potential errors during this process and revert automatically if needed. I have had several users test this update besides myself, so I'm fairly confident that no more issues will arise. As always, and this is *VERY IMPORTANT*, please make a backup before applying any update to MobileSheets. Also make a backup before applying Google OS updates. This is just a good safe practice, and will ensure that your library can always be restored if needed. Once this update is in place, the next step will be to allow multiple tablets to share a database and files hosted on cloud storage like Dropbox.

The changes for v4.0 are as follows:

-The database is now properly being moved to the SD card
-The freeform smoothing now defaults to none. This can be adjusted in the draw settings popup window.
-The freeform smoothing spinner's last value is now properly saved and restored
-Fixed connection issue to companion app due to invalid database path
-Fixed issue with selection not being restored when returning to library after loading song
-Fixed crash at startup affecting Android 2.2 users

If any issues do arise after updating, please contact me at mike@zubersoft.com for assistance.

Anyone Interested in Beta Testing the Next Update?
Posted by: Zubersoft - 01-10-2013, 05:03 PM - Forum: News - Replies (2)

I have an update mostly done that will resolve the problems I've caused with the companion app. If any users are interested in helping me test this before I push it out to everyone, please let me know. It involves some more interaction with the database, so I really want to be sure nothing will go wrong this time. Thanks!

MobileSheets v3.9 and MobileSheets Companion v1.3.5 Released
Posted by: Zubersoft - 01-07-2013, 09:23 PM - Forum: News - Replies (12)

I'm happy to announce that I've released MobileSheets v3.9 for all markets, although both Amazon and Barnes & Noble have to first approve the release. This update is a mix of new features and important fixes to bugs that have been reported by users. I was hoping to get more new features in this release, such as positional zooming, continuous vertical scrolling, audio player enhancements, etc, but I decided it was more important to get the bug fixes released first, and focus solely on new features for the next update. The changes for this release are as follows:

MobileSheets v3.9
- Fixed positioning of annotations and link points
- Added option to load setlists on the setlist editor screen (press & hold)
- Added option to load songs from both the setlist editor and collection editor
- File references are now kept to ensure that files shared by multiple songs are not deleted while deleting songs
- Fixed various crashes reported with adding and editing bookmarks
- Annotation lines can now be properly erased with the erase tool
- Fixed batch import to correctly group image files based on similar names
- Greatly improved tap detection for turning pages (added deadzone for movement)
- The overlay is now hidden automatically when a new song or setlist is loaded
- Added smoothing modes for freeform drawings. This greatly enhances the quality for high resolution tablets.
- Both search fields on the library screen are now cleared after a song or setlist is loaded
- Added ability to jump to a letter if viewing a sorted setlist
- Changed guitar tab to just tab
- Added freehand file support. You can add .fh files individually or use the batch import. Freehand files turn into .pngs
- Added a batch import button in the dropdown menu at the top right of the library screen
- Moved database location. It is now accessible from file browsers. The next update will add the ability for multiple tablets to share one database file
- Finished changes to support multiple languages.
- A number of other bug fixes and small enhancements

MobileSheets Companion v1.3.5
- Add default setting for Create subdirectory for song
- Fixed bug where cancelling a batch import caused a crash.
- Fixed bugs related to setlist ordering with duplicate songs.
- Added drag and drop file support for the music selection dialog
- Fixed bug where companion app could remove annotations from songs
- Added freehand (.fh) file support to both the Song editor and batch import dialog.
- Added dropdowns to metadata defaults dialog for faster selection
- Fixed bugs with certain source type filters not working
- Fixed batch import to correctly group image files with similar names

I hope everyone enjoys the new features. The next update should be a more exciting one full of big changes.

Help Needed From Translators, v3.9 on the way, support coming for NOOK HD
Posted by: Zubersoft - 12-28-2012, 06:14 PM - Forum: News - Replies (8)

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful time during the holidays. I’ve been hard at work on MobileSheets, trying to get a lot of bug fixes and enhancements ready for v3.9. Some of the Amazon users may have noticed that there is a bug that is causing a crash with v3.8, where it will crash the app if you rotate your tablet on the library screen. I will probably release v3.9 faster to take care of this, and some other outstanding bugs, and save some of the big new enhancements like positional zooming for v4.0.

Another thing I’ve been working hard on is support for multiple languages. I now have everything in place to support any number of languages, but I don’t have the resources to translate into all of the various languages out there. All that is required to help me translate the app is to take one text file from me, translate all of the words and sentences in it, and then send the file back to me. For the truly ambitious, I would great appreciate help translating the market page and the manual. If any of you are interested in helping MobileSheets reach a whole new set of users, please send me an email at mike@zubersoft.com (or respond here with contact info), and I will fill you in on all of the details. I really appreciate all of the support I’ve received – you all are helping make MobileSheets get better and better.

As a side note, I’m currently trying to release MobileSheets for the NOOK series of tablets, but I’ve run into several issues that Barnes & Nobles require to be addressed to meet their criteria for release. I should hopefully have it all straightened out in a week or so. For those with a NOOK or those considering purchasing one, MobileSheets should be available soon!

I hope you all have a great New Year!

Mike
