I've just tripped over the need for a reset too. For example, I have set patches for each song, but I use a limited number, so I use the same patch for lots of songs. I have set up options such as a phaser which I can set for a song. That I can operate via GX10 footswitch or via a smart button or via a page load MIDI command. At the end, I'd like the patch reset (which I can achieve either by sending a list or deliberately switching to a different patch on exit so I know that any song load gets the default patch. I could set up more patches, but then maintaining them becomes more effort.
