The companion app lets you connect to a device running MobileSheets so that you can manage the library of that device on the PC running the companion app. It's just a tool for convenience to make it easier to add files from your PC, or set up setlists, manage metadata, etc. The companion app does not store the library at all, so you can't use it without being actively connected to a device running MobileSheets.
