USB foot pedals
#1
Just thought I'd mention that USB foot pedals also work when it comes to page turning - bluetooth mice etc may also be a cheap alternative to the bluetooth foot pedal!Smile

Any recommendation for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in regard to pageturning? Tried and true solutions please. Less expensive is more desireable Smile

I found theses two references with a little search on Internet :
Pageflip Cicada : http://www.thomann.de/gb/pageflip_cicada.htm
Airturn : http://www.thomann.de/gb/airturn_bt_105.htm

Notice that it's a Bluetooth connexion, not usb.
And its works also with iPads...

I found this:

http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/10/d...computing/

video with instructions on how to build your own USB foot pedal from an old USB keyboard. I suspect that a frugal minded musician might be able to get something like this to work. If I get ambitious enough, I might try it myself.

Although a lot of MS users have gone the Bluetooth route, it seemed to me that it merely introduced another potential problem that could screw up a gig (and you will see plenty of posts where something like that has happened, tablet not responding immediately, going to sleep, etc.).

For most users, the pedals are not going to be very far from the tablet (like from music stand to floor) and any sort of wireless link seemed a bit overkill for that.

Instead, I bought one of these - eBay item number: 231133519434. It's cheap enough and has proved to work very well (I'm still working on a practical use for the third pedal).

Was it pretty much "plug and play"?

I found this one from the US ebay for $26 shipped on a slow boat from China for free.

There are multiple examples of what looks like the same product, all at much different prices. This was the cheapest.

It looks like you need to program the pedals using your Windows PC, but then it will work on the tablet. I did plug a standard usb keyboard into my tablet and was able to navigate through music on MS using the arrow keys without difficulty.

While I'm pretty frugal, I'm not sure I can do much better than this price, so I think I'm going to buy one.

jeffn1: You get a small program with it, to run on your PC. This enables you to assign whatever key combination you require to each pedal.

Nosmo King: That's the same one as I bought (and I gave in my link above). I don't really think you could do much better in terms of cost, unless you're into a bit of DIY and prepared to hack an old mouse around.
