Hi,
I wonder what is the purpose for this setting?
I have noticed that all my txt files are in its own directory and that this feature is default.
Unchecking it, I wonder if all previously imported files are going to be moved to the root, or it will impact only newly imported files?

It will only impact newly imported files. The purpose of the setting is to reduce the potential for conflicts with identically named files, but if you always use unique filenames, then it's not necessary to have it enabled.
