Currently playing with the lite iPad version before i decide whether or not to migrate over from Forscore (Forscore’s screwed me over at work more than once now with its layers condensing down into one!)
It looks great, and has a lot of elements which are definitely superior to FS, but there’s a couple of things I’m really missing from FS that’s making the decision a bit more difficult, and some things FS can’t do that would be super useful to have. For context, I’m a stage manager making digital prompt books so not your average use case but I’m sure the things I’d like would apply to most people!
1- Support for Apple Pencil Pro, i.e. a preview of my stamp/pen when hovering, squeeze to bring up an annotation tool picker, and one which FS can’t do but would be incredibly useful for me would be rotating a stamp with the rotation feature built into the pencil.
2- Being able to re-size/position the grid with a pinch or a movable ruler - I need to draw straight connected lines on specific parts of a page all the time and it’s just a bit fiddly to get the grid to line up exactly with the slider. And an option to only snap to grid on the x or y axis.
3- An eraser which can erase part of a shape - I quite often draw circles then erase half and put an arrow head on it but can’t find a way to do that here.
4- An option to change the arrow head to a filled one, the current one’s just too big! And also having a flexible arrow tool would be amazing.
5- When in 2 page mode, being able to zoom to both visible pages together or turn off panning independently of pinch to zoom, or make panning a 2 finger action instead of single. I’ve currently got pinch to zoom turned off because the pan function when annotating a page is incredibly irritating when I’m trying to draw a straight line across 2 pages, but I would still like to be able to zoom in when needed.
6- Something which I know other people have mentioned, an option to default to the pen would be really good, and on the Apple Pencil point, being able to access the tool picker and switch tools while hovering, without going into annotation mode would also be great.
7- When selecting multiple elements (eg. 3 straight lines) have them move together as a group.
7- and an option to always display the control bar when in annotation mode would be handy, as would being able to re-order/add info to the tools favourites.
