slow page turn in landscape mode
#1
Hi

As there are larger tablets available, I normally use MS in Landscape Mode with 2 Pages at a time.

When we are playing somewhere on the right Page, I initialise a page turn and then:

That page turn is done by shifting one page left until there is a new page completly visible.

Wundeful, but:

Its done so fast, that I sometimes loose visual Contact to the Point where we are actually playing.

Is there any Possibility to slow down that scrolling to at least half the actual velocity or can that feature be added?

Thanks

Yes, that's something I have suggested a few years ago already (and why I finally settled on half page turns with the divider with which I'm pretty happy now).
But I still think the scroll speed should be slower in your scenario or better adjustable. I often lost the focus as well because the scrolling was to quick.

I'll have to add a setting for the page turn duration (in milliseconds). I don't know if this should apply to multiple display modes (single page, two page, vertical scrolling), or have to be set per display mode.

HI !

I use the German Interface. Under:

Einstellungen,  Anzeige-Einstellungen, Umblätter-Animation abschalten , Ein/Aus

You could replace the Switch with a "page turn animation time" which in case of value zero
has the existing function and with times up to several seconds delivers the requested "scroll to next page" function.
That would be great for me !!
Thanks for the quick response !!!

Hi !
I found another feature request Scrolling and link points
which has nearly the same problem -loosing focus at a page advance -.
Can anyone help me and support this request ??
I think the solution I descibed should be relativly simple to implement without side effects.

Now you've lost me - I understand you want an option to slow down the page turn animation. Triggering link points is completely separate from that though, and the end link point is going to blink at you so you know where to start from. So I don't see how that could be an issue. Scrolling is also completely separate from triggering a link point, so your two requests don't see to be related unless I'm missing something. If you are just saying you want a slower page turn animation after triggering a link point, that doesn't really make sense if you are jumping like 3 pages forward or backward. In that case, the page transition needs to be instantaneous.

My suggestion is to work around this, but differently. I used "Scrolling" since you can set an advance speed such that you don't lose your place (I use partial, single sheet in landscape,,vertical scrolling) and bump the page forward at a speed that my eyes can follow. Link points don't currently work in scroll mode (thus my suggestion),mwut they can go fast, since the link endpoint is highlighted when the link is activating, taking the eye where it needs to go. (My solution also let's me get a bigger image on a less expensive tablet, but at the end of the day, we truly are trying to solve the same problem - losing our place if the page changes/moves too fast.

Ultimately, it would seem that as options get more plentiful, the screen to select advance options might be easier if there were three parameters set together, and not the "canned choices" that miss a lot of options.

Specifically, if you selected:

Advance style: Full page, percent of page, scroll
Advance speed: 0 for instant up to ???, and apply to to *every* sty;e.
Direction: Forward, backward
Linking: Activate, Activate next (direction chosen by the direction parameter).

Or something like that, it would be useable for all pedal and touch actions, and would offer any combination of options, addressing most of the advance issues I have read, and I would think makimg the UI easier to use as well.

I tried to realise my requested feature by using the scroll capabbilities.

No chance. It is complicated, overloaded and difficult to understand and, at least for me, useless.
I tried to use scrolling with the intention for a slow page turn in landscape mode   - no effect

I found the capability for a page advance in the mode: first left page then right page --advance.
That is irritating, because you have to look left instead of right for the next page, but it works. But again:

A general feature to influence the velocity of the "page turn animation" as I described would be very useful .
Thanks

I don't flip pages per-se in scroll mode . . . I set "vertical scrolling" and then the entire piece can be advanced top to bottom such that where you are playing simply moves up (so you can still see it/keep your place) and the new unplayed stuff appears on the bottom, and link points handle repeat/DC/DS/Coda etc. . . . Seemed pretty trivial to set up to me, but YMMV . . .

heckelbachHi

I use two page landscape exclusively because I duplicate the display to TV monitors to display tabs. Chromebooks/android tablets will not rotate screen TV screens properly.

I too (and others jamming with me) find that page turns in two page landscape mode often throws a wrench into the machine. Everyone gets lost. Audience boos.

A possible solution (for chordpro) would be to be able to colorize odd and even page backgrounds differently. Or a horizontal scroll.

I am close to changing to the windows based version in order to fix this issue. I'm afraid of losing tablet touchscreen and tablet weight and portability. Reformatting hundreds of songs to portrait screen size is stopping me too.
