Sync Broken
#1
My 2nd IPad has got in a complete knot with sync.
macOS & iPad 1 are OK

I've removed the app , signed out of iCloud.
re-signed into iCloud & downloaded the app from appstore again.

from an empty library,  I go to .../sync library
choose iCloud folder & update device.

The pdfs & library appear to download OK & appear in the library,
but when I go to open them I get "blah.pdf does not exist"

if I try to sync a second time, I get :
Error Encountered transferring files:
file:///private/var/mobile/Libraryt/Mobile%20Documents/ICloud~MobileSheets/Documents//blah.pdf

Any ideas ??

Version 3.9.3. iOS 18

Please try first creating a library backup file on the 1st iPad (Settings->Backup and Restore->Backup Library), and restore that .msb file on the 2nd iPad under Settings->Backup and Restore->Restore Library from Backup. Ensure everything loads properly, then try the sync again. I would just like to know if this gets you past the problem.

Hi Mike,
That seems to have fixed it.

I subsequently imported a file locally from ipad-2, and that was giving the "can't find file:///private/var/mobile..."  error.
However I synced the other devices & then the ipad-2 device again & it seems to have gone away.

strange behaviour.

Thanks, Bill

That is very strange - I'm not sure I can explain that, as you should never see a failure to load a locally imported file unless it was deleted off the device...

I think it was one that was imported previously & had the error  - can't say for sure.
maybe filesystem cache ?

When you say "locally", what do you mean?
I'm using the default of iCloud storage for mobileSheets, which I assume is in some hidden area on my iCloud & I imported from an iCloud area too.

Also, can you confirm that this is a different folder to the one used on iCloud when syncing?

thanks, Bill

I just mean off the "On my iPad" part of the storage, i.e. the device storage, not the iCloud storage.

As for your question, yes, that is a different folder from the iCloud sync folder.

I had such a nightmare with the iCloud sync now that I've spent SO much time getting stuff in I'm terrified of trying it again.. so I've just been doing the direct server/client from whatever device is further along.. sucks as I'd love to trust it.. but it was just giving me doubles after doubles... I'm actually VERY computer literate and build websites, etc as one of my gigs but I got SO frustrated that I just gave up.. maybe when I have time and patience to not throw the iPad/computer at the wall if it messes up again I'll try it again...
