[3.9.7] video of musescore -> ABC -> ChordPro -> mobilesheets
#1
I have attached a video in which I have integrated step by step an abc-file as a transposable sheet in mobilesheets using all the information I could find in the forum.

Unfortunately mobilesheets still has some critical errors, but I think Mike will get that fixed.  Big Grin
  • transposing changes the song
  • the key is adopted incorrectly
  • text settings do not work
If it works flawlessly at some point, that would be really great! Exclamation

I prefer text descriptions and screenshots. The video is too hard to understand.

Nice that you have highlighted your post again.

I wanted to use the video to show the whole process from a more complex piece of music in Musescore to the transposable sheet in mobilesheets. In this respect, not everything was clear to me in your posts. However, I cannot publish the whole piece of music here for copyright reasons.

Secondly, I wanted to visualize the problems that occur, especially when transposing.

Here is the text form with zipped files:
  • Hay_Burner_Test.mscz is the massively reduced source file in musescore 3.6.2
  • Hay_Burner_Test.mxl is the compressed MusicXML file exported from Musescore
  • Hay_Burner_Test.abc is the ABC file created with the freeware tool EasyABC
  • Hay_Burner_Test.pro is the ChordPro file extended by {start_of_abc} and {end_of_abc} for importing to mobilesheets and renamed to ".pro"
  • Hay_Burner_Test.pdf shows the additional notes that appear when transposing in semitone steps in musescore

If you transpose the mxl- or abc-file in Michael Eskin's ABC tool, as shown in the video, the wrong additional notes do not appear. For me, this is a proof that the problem lies in mobilesheets.

In "ABC workflow - Freude schoener Goetterfunken" https://www.zubersoft.com/mobilesheets/f...12171.html I also showed my complete workflow. The difference to your workflow is that I used the plugin ABCImpExp V1.1 to create the ABC file. This avoids the need to create an intermediate MusicXml file and import that into EasyABC or Michael Eskins tool to create an ABC file.
The resulting ABC files of the three methods are probably different. It might be interesting to compare them in detail.

I used "Freude schoener Goetterfunken" as my example because it's out of copyright (and I already had it and need it in different keys).

Your transposing issue in MobileSheets is already described:
"I had to add the ChordPro chord [F] before the ABC section to tell MobileSheets what key we're in. This is not only used to fill the "keys" field in the database during import, but also required as the starting key for transposing. MobileSheets could have detected the key from K:F in the ABC section."
If you import Hay_Burner_Test_2.pro it is correctly shown with key=F and transposed by MobileSheets just fine.
Still a bug that needs to be fixed, but the workaround is easy an feasible.

Adding {key: F} instead of [F] has the same effect and is not visible on the screen, see Hay_Burner_Test_3.pro

Hi itsme,
I am very grateful for your many helpful comments, but mobilesheets does not transpose fine!

I have attached a small video using your file Hay_Burner_Test_2.pro showing the problem!

you're right, transposing still doesn't work as expected

With the ABC library I'm currently using, I only have the ability to specify %%transpose <steps>%%. That's not going to let me choose flats vs sharps. I also don't control how the ABC library is going to handle transposing the notes. We will have to see if it works as you are wanting when I switch to abc2svg.

Many thanks for the information, Mike.

Then it makes no sense to continue experimenting with this option at the moment.
It would be fantastic if it worked including formatting adjustment and cropping.
