Save backup-path for next backup
#1
When I click backup, a popup is shown.

To continue, one must click the folder-icon, select e.g. 'local'. Here now, the folder one has choosen earlier appears.
you click 'save' and one returns to the former popup, now with the choosen path shown.
Would be easier, if by default this path allready is given in the above popup when it opens for the first time.

For local file paths, I could certainly consider pre-populating the backup path by using the last selected folder in combination with the default filename that would normally be assigned. This doesn't really work as well for cloud paths, as MobileSheets may have to authenticate with the cloud service, which normally happens when the user goes to pick the destination. This also doesn't work when using the System File Browser, as permission to create the file is only granted by Google's file picker. Lastly, MobileSheets doesn't track which destination the user last picked (local vs cloud), so it wouldn't know which default path to go with, so I'd have to default to a local path. For cloud backups, users would still always have to pick the destination.

I should mention that this is only a possibility on Android. For iOS and Windows, permission to create the file is granted through the file picker.

Thank you, that would be fine!

Hi Mike. I just saw in the release notes when updating that the file path for backups is now being saved. Just wondering whether it would be possible to do the same for sync folders - have the sync default to the last path that was used for that particular library. I sync with cloud folders so if it's possible for cloud paths to be saved that would be very useful for me.

I already do that with synchronizing to a cloud folder. It should automatically use the last cloud service that was utilized and default to the last folder that was selected. I don't save any settings separately for each library though.

It would be great to have the cloud path saved for each library. If no settings are saved for each library yet then that would probably be a significant change and not necessarily worth devoting time to but I imagine it would be useful to anyone who regularly syncs multiple libraries.

I sync to the cloud in lieu of backing up - haven't saved a backup in years but I do a full sync of all libraries on all devices pretty much every time I add a piece. I think I stopped backing up when I realised how much quicker syncing is and I think I assumed that syncing saved all the same data (or at least as much as you select in the dialogue) but please let me know if that's risky somehow and I should actually be backing up occasionally.
