Grid-Size (and chorus-indnet and comment-color)
#1
Hello Michael,

i already opened a bug in the bugtracker, but i have the impression, that you dont really use it. at least, the problem still persists, and for me (since one of the last updates it became much worse) its kind of pretty urgent.

by the way, before i start to "complain": i love mobilesheets and within the last years it became a daily used tool to practice and on stage. i cant live without it anymore! you did a really great job. the feature-richness is amazing - although i am still missing some things (for example chord-diagrams)

i was very happy when you introduced the chord-grid. before i was using some ugly work-arround to arrange chord-grids within chordpro, that costed me lots of time to arrange chord-grids somehow. so, when you released the first version with chord-grid-function i started to change all my chordpro-files one by one with the new chordgrid-feature.

unfortunatelly i had from the very beginning until now problems to make the size fit to my needs. sometimes i am using very long chord names, but also with short chord-names i have the problem of overlapping display.

i dont understand why the chrod-grid-size changes the size of the chords AND the space between them. i would expect that the size just changes the space of the "grid", but not of the chords - for the size of the chrods, we have already the option to configure it. is this a bug or, did you do this on purpose?

although, by the way: i am missing a feature where i can specify the ammount of indent of the chorus. many times its way to much indented and words are ugly wrapped in a new line, that should remain in the same line.

at the moment, lots of chord-sheets are unusabel for me, cause the chords are badly overlapping and i cant read them. i would be very happy for a quick fix for that!

last but not least: i requested a feature long time ago, that allows set a separte color for comments. i am still missing this feature. i use the highlight-tag at the moment, which is kind of awkward. would still love to have an option to specify a separate color for comments. also i am missing an easy way to "highlight" some letters within the lyrics. i use "<span color="aqua">my highlighted text</span> to highlight emphasis letters of words (because it helps me alot to remember how to sing lyrics correct that i dont know very well), but to insert this on a tablet without a keyboard is very awkward and costs lots of time.

thats it for now. keep on your good work!

The "Grid Size" setting  in the text display settings is the size of the text used in the chord grid. The chord grid calculations are based solely on the number of cells specified along with the width of the screen - each cell is given the same width regardless of the content within it. This matches the chord pro specification (which was discussed in another forum thread). So if you have really long chords, they are going to overlap with other text unless you reduce the text size or specify fewer cells. The current implementation is correct and is not going to change. You should reduce the grid text size to fit your chords if this is a problem for you. I do apologize that a buggy implementation was in place for so long though - it took me a number of updates to work through all the reported issues and resolve things through discussions with itsme and other users.

As far as the issue tracker, I do refer back to it, but I already have months of things planned right now, and I use the issue tracker for my own internal tracking - not for users to report issues. Users should report issues here on the forum.

As far as your other requests, itsme already has requested significantly more settings for ChordPro files to control the behavior. I'm not going to use a configuration file like the main ChordPro application (I think that's a little too much for the casual user), but I will have a more involved settings screen with many more options, but this is also going to require significant changes (both to track all of that in the database, implement all the UI changes for the new settings, and to change the logic to account for the new settings).

Mike
