Dividers on Setlist
#1
Lightbulb
Hello again,

It'd be cool to be able to have dividers on a setlist.

For example:

--COCKTAILS
Song 1
Song 2
Song 3
--DINNER SET
Song 1
Song 2
Song 3
Song 4
--AFTER PARTY SET
Song 1
Song 2

(where the hyphened texts are the "dividers")

Thanks!

You can already do this using the "Add Placeholder" option:
While creating/editing a set list, just press the 3 dot menu item, and select Add Placeholder.

The only possible downside I've seen is that this creates a PDF.  I've sometimes used this to put content specific to a gig/set in the setlist.

"Add Placeholder" does NOT create a PDF. It only creates an entry in the database without a file, just like pressing "+" in the song editor and chosing "blank pages". Nevertheless such a blank page can be filled with some content using the annotation editor and can be exported as a PDF.

I prepared files "Set 1" ... "Set xx" that I use as separators. They are imported into the database with song titles like "--- Set xx ---" to separate them visually when the setlist is displayed and sorts them to the top within the # section of the songs tab.  I added these separator songs to an extra collection called "Separators" to simplify filtering.
In the beginning these files were PDFs, later I switched to use ChordPro. ChordPro files have the advantage that I can edit them on the fly in MobileSheets.

I shall explore this further as that is how I expected the feature to work, however I remember being both surprised and disappointed by finding PDFs, which I did NOT create by exporting them.  I will admit however, that it was some time ago, and being an old fart my memory may be deceiving me and perhaps it was only database entries I found.  I will definitely be checking this.

This is a cool workaround, thanks! I think I'll do the same for now. But it's still be cool if they could add that feature, rather than doing a workaround. Smile

Thanks again!

Adding dividers is certainly on my list of things to do this year. I'm just not sure on the exact timeline for it.

itsme,
Thanks for alerting me to my error - I have searched for the PDFs I believed to have been created and I could not find them.  I also checked the placeholders that exist in old setlists looking for associated files and there are none.

I have no explanation for how this mistake happened, which I find quite irritating, as it means I don't know how to avoid similar ones in the future.

In any case, while I hate making errors like this I'm also happy to be corrected, so again, thank you.
