Page Scrolling in Landscape Mode
#1
I have just started using MobileSheets and am very impressed.  This is my first go at using a 'monitor' to display music rather than using paper sheet music so I am still getting used to triggering page turns with my foot but I hope I will master it soon.

Rather than fork out for an expensive large screen tablet, I opted for a less expensive route - I purchased a HD portable monitor (light and thin) and hooked it up as a second screen to my Mini Mac.  It then just rests on the piano's music holder just like sheet music would.  Even though it is just HD resolution, it works well and being just HD, doesn't require expensive cables.  (It is about 15 foot from the computer).

Using the monitor in landscape I am able to use the two page display mode.  That again works well but my brain is struggling to get used to the rapid changes in the screen as it flicks from one page to the next.  Also I am struggling to get used to the page that was on the right, suddenly being on the left and being able to pick up where I am. (Invariably part way down the page).  I have tried the "alternate" page switching mode.  Again it works fine but is not ideal when I have to arrange sheets to deal with music that repeats. (Pages that are first on one side of the screen then sometimes later appear on the other side (unlike with paper sheet) and my brain gets confused).

I note that in single page mode you can scroll the page and adjust the scroll rate.  What would be fantastic (IMO) is to be able to operate in the double page mode  progressing one page at a time but instead of the page transition being instant, have the pages scroll right to left at a speed sufficiently slow that I can still follow my position on the page with my eyes.

I would love to hear any one else's thoughts.

I use two page display in landscape with single page turns for most of my music.

If you turn off 'Disable Page Turn Animation' in the settings, the page will slide from the right side to the left side.

If you use a pedal (or touch actions on certain parts of the screen), you may need to set the touch or pedal actions to 'Scroll...or Turn Page...' to get the same animation.

I think Phil is wanting a slower horizontal scroll. That's not something I currently support, but a small number of users have requested it.

Thanks Sam - that sounds like exactly what I am looking for but I am struggling to get it to working as I would like it.

I have the 'Disable Page Turn Animation' turned off but am struggling to find settings that get the pages to slide at a sensible speed.  It looks like the pages do slide to the left but it is very fast - I estimate 1/2 second.

Adjusting the scroll speed doesn't seem to make any difference.  Using fixed duration also didn't make any difference.  I also tried changing the action when the pedals are pressed to the 'Scroll up/down...' options but again no change.  It looks like I can have instant or about 1/2 second as the only options.  Is yours slower than this?   If so any help with setting combinations would be appreciated.

FYI I use a mini Mac (IOS) and Air turn page turner

Thanks again

Hi Mike - Yes you have it in one.  I think if I was a more confident piano player, I would be OK with the fast scroll but at the moment and at my level I like to keep my eyes on the score.

That said, I am impressed by the app - well done.

The scroll settings will only control the scrolling speed for the continuous scrolling settings. The animation is pretty fast, but it provides enough movement for my eyes to follow it well enough.

Thanks Sam - At least I am not missing anything.  I will try it and see if I can get used to it.

I gather a few people have asked for some slower scrolling speed options but not sure where it sits on the priority list (if at all).
