Admittedly, I'm a new user but I've tried so many things and still cannot get my iPad client to start the song on my iPad server. I am connected just fine through a private apple type router and the iPad server does bring up the song on the client iPad but when song is started the Playtimer sits at zero and never increments.
Things I've tried so far:
1) both iPad client and server are pretty new versions of IOS.
2) the MSP backup/restore to the client was done so the devices data and settings should be identical.
3) I've tried using a home WiFi connection, Cellphone Hotspot and the private network apple router and symptoms are the same.
Symptoms:
1) selecting the song on the server brings the song up on the client, but when starting it, the playtime on the client never starts which I think means the song isn't play on the client iPad. Normally using our other app being retired. the client iPads do start the audio play be we just keep the volume down to zero.
2) when selecting the song from the client iPad, the song Does Not load on the server iPad. Seems I'm one direction only. Server to Client ok, Client to Server not ok.
f
If it matters:
1) Both client and server iPads are on version 3.9.17 of Mobile Sheets.
2) The Server iPad is on version 17.5.1 of IOS, and the Client iPad is on version 18.4.1 iPad IOS.
I've searched the forum far and wide and the internet AI with lots of suggestions but none that fixed the issue.
Hope someone out there can help wanted to use this otherwise working setup on Wednesday, July 23rd. Sadly I'll probably miss that usage.
Thanks for reading

Hello Don,
How are you triggering the audio to start playing? Are you manually tapping the play icon? Using a touch action or pedal action? Or did you enable the option to automatically start playing the audio when the song is loaded? If you enable the option to automatically play the audio when the song is loaded, then this absolutely should work across the two devices. If you are manually playing the audio through the audio player, that action is not synchronized between the devices. Pedal actions are synchronized though.

Thanks Mike,
I think I need to backup a step. The first and most important issue is the iPad client is not able to start the song on the server. It comes up on the client but does not popup on the server. The opposite is true if you load the song from the server it immediately pops up on the client. If we can solve that one perhaps the cause of it is also the cause of the others.

That's how the connect tablets feature is designed to work. The leader device can load songs on the follower devices, but you can't load a song on a follower device and have it show up on the leader. Some users have asked for this capability, so it's probably something I'll add when I get some bandwidth, but the feature is primarily designed to allow one tablet to control others. Let me know if I've misunderstood something though.

Thanks Mike,
No I think you understood my issue correctly. I think I made an assumption based on what I read about Mobile Sheets on the internet. Guess I wasted a purchase times (3) one for windows11 and two for (2) iPads. I really like Mobile Sheets and frankly SongbookPLUS (German App) that I'm using now does have the launch from any client option and the playtimer works on all it is playing on, but SongbookPLUS has is developing some bugs that are becoming intolerable when performing live and that was why I was attempting to migrate to mobile sheets.
So for my purpose perhaps do you think I could play the songs on the server iPad and just mirror the screen of the server iPad to the other iPads so they could see the lyrics and playtime timer, though they wouldn't have any other control over the client features just watching the server run a son. I've never done that sort of casting to of the screen of other iPad's but I'll explore it.
I sure hope this feature comes around in a future release but hats off to you for developing a superb app. Even with my novice abilities in Mobile Sheets it works very well for everything else.
Any chance I could get a refund or store credit for (1) of the iPad versions I purchased twice but according to the App Store only needed to buy (1) ?
Your response time and support help was amazing, considering you're the design engineer, thank you for that.

In theory that might work, although the display wouldn't look as sharp most likely. It isn't a terribly difficult feature to add (letting the client have the ability to trigger actions on the server and other connected clients), so it won't take as long to add as some other requested features.
As far getting a refund, you definitely should not have had to purchase the app multiple times on iOS as long as this is just for personal use and you aren't sharing the devices with other users. You do need to use the same account on all devices though. You can request a refund for the second purchase here:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/118223
Apple does not let developers issue refunds or have access to any information about customer purchases, so this is not something I can do myself I'm afraid.

Mike,
Thanks for all you feedback on my request. As an IT guy I spent years working on SW projects so I'm aware that even some seemingly simple changes can take some time because you have to work them in around your time for support and other changes and across the various OS platforms.
If such a change is ever available, I am willing to work tirelessly to BETA test any early releases of it for iPad in a real live band environment.
Thanks again for your support. We'll endure the buggy SongBookPLUS (German) app for now.
